The Dubai desert safari tour
We decided to book a Dubai desert safari tour for one day within our 2 nights of Dubai stay. Back in Germany we already booked the tour online. Payment was in Euro and after finishing the whole tour in Dubai. There are plenty offers of all kind of desert safari tours, starting at 30 euros, you can check out the german link here. For us it was important that we will get a picture with a flacon on the arm. After all though we didn’t get the chance for it. But we got so many other impressions that we didn’t even notice, only later when we were back in the hotel we asked ourself: where was the falcon we got promised ? haha
Starting the desert safari tour
Our driver picked us up at our hotel. We extra booked a tour without so many other cars, so we only were 5 people and the tour guide. The tour guide was friendly, almost to friendly. He totally hit on my friend and when he found out she was not interested he startet hitting on me. We didn’t tell him that we both are gay because you never know how people react in a islamic state. Later on he even got really touchy that i had to give him a speech that he has to stop that. It worked but we could see that his mood was getting a bid worse.
The first stop of the desert safari tour
After picking up the other german clients we drove off to our first stop. That was where the tires need to get flattened to let out the air pressure. At that stop you could by some souvenirs and also drive the squads, which usually is not included in the safari tours. The guide was asking us if we want to ride with him for free so i did. 🙂
It was my first time on a squad but i really enjoyed it, even though the motor dust was hitting on my leg which burned terribly. At first i thought it was the hot sun because we had over 40 ° Celsius.
Next on the agenda was the dune drifting with our SUV. The driver was really skilled i must say. It is not easy i would say to do all that driving. The more you sit in the back of the car the faster you become sick. We were sitting in the middle so there was only one certain point i really had to say please slow down a bid, no more bumps for me. But that was the good thing, he would adjust his driving to our needs. And don’t drink to much water before that. You will have plenty time for that late even though you really get thirsty after taking some beautiful pictures of the sunset and trying some sand boarding with a snowboard haha. When your stomach is to full then you will probably puke.
The last stop at our Dubai desert safari was the nomad camp. They build them extra for tourist, so it is more the flair under the desert sky you will enjoy than the original historical point you might think of at first. They serve a splendid barbecue and have live acts like bellydancers and fire eater. The belly dancer we had for example was a brazilian girl. She was great. But no locals would do that of course. Everything is included even a ride on a dromedary. I felt sorry for the poor creature who always had to kneel down and go up every 3 minutes. The ride was only a short round and you could see that it was exhausted and needed some rest. So you might want to skip that part.
We got back in the evening and enjoyed that trip a lot. You get a lot for your money and it is something i could always recommend as a day trip when you stay in Dubai. If you are interested in another Dubai Belivo story then click here.
